The Role of an LLP in Collaborative Law
Licensed Legal Paraprofessionals (LLPs) are helping to make legal support in the area of family law more accessible across Colorado. LLPs can assist clients with many family legal matters such as divorce, child support, and custody matters, offering a practical and affordable option for those who may not have access to traditional legal services or wish to hire non-attorney representation.
Collaborative Law focuses on resolving disputes respectfully, without going to court. LLPs fit naturally into this process, helping families navigate challenges while staying focused on practical solutions that solve disputes without the need for a costly trial. By partnering with LLPs, we can offer more options for families who want a less adversarial way forward.
How We Work with LLPs
At CCDP, we’ve seen firsthand the positive impact LLPs bring to Collaborative Law. By working together, we can provide families with the tools they need to resolve legal issues while avoiding unnecessary conflict. We’re committed to supporting LLPs by:
Creating opportunities to collaborate and network.
Sharing resources that help LLPs succeed in Collaborative Law.
Building connections with professionals who share the same vision: helping families through difficult transitions with care and understanding.

Watch a Live Training + Q&A Session
If you’re curious about how LLPs can expand their Collaborative, Cooperative, or ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution) work, we’ve got you covered. We recently hosted a live presentation and Q&A session for CCDP members.. This presentation by our member LLP, Laura Landon, is available here:
Since the recording of that video, the rules for LLPs have recently been expanded! One of the most significant changes is that LLPs can now assist in trial to the same extent as attorneys - handling all of the presentation of witness testimony and evidence.
