About ME
I grew up in Southwest Colorado learning a love of law from the family business attorney. Despite many in my life’s journey telling me not to do it, I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with a Japanese Language minor in 1994 and went on to earn a Master of Management (MBA and Master of Public Administration equivalent) and the Juris Doctorate with a Certificate of Dispute Resolution (mediation and arbitration), graduating in 1998, all from Willamette University in Salem, Oregon.
From Cortez, Colorado, my husband and I moved to Boulder and then to Northglenn. I eventually moved my practice into the Melody Building in 2014 and continued my tradition of maintaining a 10% pro bono case load, working in the local legal clinic once a month, and providing quality, principled, and affordable legal services to the community.
Initially having planned to practice business law, I fell in love with estate planning while in law school. After graduation, I clerked at a firm where I was exposed to family law and found it was not as objectionable as I had expected. I found that I truly enjoyed the challenge and opportunity to help someone get through the process and take as many steps as reasonable to minimize the damage to the children. I personally count a case as a win if the outcome is good for the children, especially if we’ve been able to keep them sheltered from unnecessary fallout from the process.
I am thrilled to enter into this community of collaborative law practitioners. This process is all about helping the family to restructure and taking all reasonable steps to get everyone out the other side in the best shape possible. It’s great that it also helps couples start the process of healing and of being able to work together to co-parent. I would much rather have my family law clients be repeat clients in need of other services like estate planning than needing to come back again and again for modifications and enforcements.
