About ME

Lisa R. Shellenberger is a Managing Partner at Setter Roche Smith & Shellenberger, LLP (SRSS), a mid-size full-service law firm located in downtown Denver, Colorado. Lisa is the Division Lead for the firm’s Family Law and Juvenile Law team. Lisa is a collaboratively trained attorney who practices in the field of family and juvenile law. She specializes in cases involving high-net worth individuals, complex financial issues, high-stakes child custody cases, and adoption actions. Lisa is also an expert in the Indian Child Welfare Act, and she is in her second term as the Chief Justice for the Havasupai Court of Appeals.

Lisa has been recognized as the Nation’s Top One Percent by the National Association of Distinguished Counsel. Additionally, from 2017-2024, Lisa has received the SuperLawyers Rising Star award in the field of family law. From 2017-2024, she has also been named a Top 10 Attorney in Colorado the area of family law by the American Institute of Family Law Attorneys.

In addition to mentoring the other family law and juvenile law attorneys at SRSS, Lisa also frequently teaches Continuing Legal Education (CLE) courses to other attorneys and judges throughout the year. She serves on the Juvenile Law Rules Drafting Committee, as well as the ICWA Rules Drafting Committee, both of which are organized by the Colorado Supreme Court. She also works closely with the State Court Administrator’s Office (SCAO) to prepare bench books, bench training materials, and onsite training to judicial officers in the fields of family law, juvenile law, and probate. She also works with SCAO to prepare and update domestic relations, probate, and juvenile case court forms that are utilized state-wide and issued by Colorado Judiciary. Lisa has served as the lead-drafter of Title 19 statues and Rules of Procedure that are now adopted and implemented as state law.
